FAQs

How many design hours will my project need?

This varies by project. During the consultation we gather information about the project; we’re then able to provide an estimate of hours needed to complete the design. In order to stay flexible and allow for changes in the scope of work, we charge an hourly rate for our design services.

Can you give me an estimate on how much my project will cost?

We will provide you with an estimate based on our involvement (design hours). A contractor or builder will be able to get you a quote on the construction costs. To get the most accurate quote/bid, it does require us to provide drawings, specs, and the scope to the contractor.

Will you work with a tighter budget?

Absolutely! We strongly believe that everyone should be able to have a beautiful and functional home. We offer various interior design services to accommodate every budget.

Do I have to work with your contractor or can I use my own?

While we have preferred contractors and subs, we’re happy to work with anyone you feel comfortable with and trust. If it’s a smaller 1-2 room project, a general contractor may not be necessary. In those cases, we can take on the role.

Can you work with my existing furniture OR ARTWORK?

Of course! The most sustainable pieces are the ones you already own. If something truly doesn’t work for the space or conflicts with your priorities we’ll be sure to point it out and offer an alternative. We also love to source vintage and second-hand when possible or design completely custom pieces hand-made for you.

Can I purchase everything myself?

We purchase all furniture, decor, lighting fixtures, and cabinet hardware. We recommend allowing the contractor or builder to purchase all materials and finishes related to construction. In some cases we will order plumbing depending on the preferences of the contractor.

Do I get your discount on furniture, decor, etc.?

Although this is not always applicable, we do extend a portion of our discount to you whenever possible. Trade-only furnishings purchased through Designer will be marked up from wholesale cost.

How long will my project take to complete?

While our deliverables have a fairly quick turn-around time - project completion varies greatly and is impacted by permits, the contractor or builder’s schedule, your schedule, and availability of goods and materials. We always recommend having a completed design and materials ordered before demolition and/or construction begins.
