Sandy Farmhouse
Our client absolutely loves to cook and bake, as well as host large family meals and events. It was obvious that she was lacking adequate work space, storage, and durable materials in the kitchen, and a large dining room suitable for entertaining.
The kitchen and dining room were unable to accommodate our clients' extended family comfortably. To create a larger kitchen and dining room, we removed a small half bath and dysfunctional pantry that were disrupting the flow from the kitchen to the dining room, and taking up valuable space. This allowed us to add a HUGE island which provides storage on three sides, a large workspace, serving area, and casual dining space. As a bonus, there was now room to add a coffee bar equipped with a luxurious built-in coffee maker.
The client’s three dogs and grandchildren meant they needed flooring that would last. The antiqued and chiseled limestone floors already have that much-needed worn-in look, and will only get better with age. Staying true to the style of the home, we continued to add natural materials and traditional farmhouse details throughout. The show-stopping, custom walnut island features dentil trim, to tie into the millwork featured in the rest of the home. A specialty hand-crafted tile backsplash, leathered granite countertops, and polished nickel lighting and hardware add sophistication to this beautiful new farmhouse kitchen.
